Do:
  • Cover the transducer and clean after every use.
  • Leave clean transducers securely in their holders.
  • Return the ultrasound equipment to the preop storage area when not in use.
  • Ask the workroom technicians to clean the machine if necessary.

Don't:

 

  • Do not drop the transducer.
  • Do not clean the ultrasound displays with hydrogen peroxide cleaners.
  • Do not leave the transducers disconnected (unless stored properly in a plastic case).
 
Block Cart
  • Every medication that is drawn up must be fully labeled.
  • Throw away any un-labeled or expired medications.
  • Lock cart when stepping away
Block Checklist
  • Performing resident, supervising attending and patient all involved for independent assessments of safety checklist.
  • Avoid distractions during timeout (needs your undivided attention).
  • Visual inspections are the best confirmation.
